AC Power

Background

The AC Power project is one of our most important undertakings, powering the telecom infrastructure across the UK. In partnership with Cornerstone, MAC has been involved in upgrading the electrical systems of telecom sites/infrastructure managed by Cornerstone. Throughout the current project lifecycle, we have successfully upgraded hundreds of telecom sites to meet the industry’s stringent standards.

Our Role

Electrical Sub Mains Cable Replacement: MAC has been instrumental in replacing both Single and 3 Phase Electrical AC sub mains cables across diverse environments. This includes sub-terra Greenfield sites, rooftop installations, and urban street works, covering both long and short distances.

Meter Cabinet Replacement: Aligning with the Distribution System Operator (DSO) and Metering Services Operator (MOP), MAC has undertaken the replacement of electrical meter cabinets, ensuring compliance with current standards.

Compliance with 18th Edition Electrical Standards: MAC has conducted various electrical upgrade works on site to comply with the BS7671 Wiring Regulations. This includes the introduction of AC variants of SPDs, OCPDs, RCDs, and Distribution Boards.

Remedial Electrical Works: Following observations from previous Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR), MAC has completed various electrical remedial works to enhance site safety and efficiency.

Earthing System Installations: The installation of TT Earthing Systems and Protective Earthing on Electrical Installations, as per the BS7430 Code of Practice, has been a key focus, ensuring grounding and safety across all sites.

Generator Sockets and Electrical Upgrades: Installation of new 3 Phase Generator sockets complete with Changeover Switches has been undertaken, along with aligned electrical upgrade works within existing electrical meter cabinets.

Testing and Inspection: Upon completion of the electrical works, MAC conducts thorough Electrical Testing and Inspection to ensure the safe and effective energisation of the upgraded installations.

The Impact

Since the beginning of the project, we have managed to upgrade hundreds of telecom sites to the 18th Edition Electrical Standards. Consequently, we have significantly contributed to the modernization and enhanced reliability of these telecom infrastructures.
